When the pandemic arrived and we could no longer train in person, Mike and I pivoted to virtual sessions, where Mike created a brand new program with limited equipment. I’ve had the opportunity to work with Mike one-on-one and two-on-one (myself and a workout partner) in a gym, and five-on-one (as part of a small group exercising outside during Covid-19 closures). In every instance, I have found him to be responsive, insightful, effective, and motivating. Apart from a few free sessions when I first joined a gym 20 years ago, I’ve never had a personal trainer. I hired Mike because a friend wanted to have a trainer, I was coming up to 50, and I thought it might be useful to have as I enter the next 20 years of working out. After my first 24 sessions came to an end, I quickly hired him for another round. Over the past several years I have worked with Mike on and off, with breaks due to moving or other external considerations. However, I keep coming back when I think it would benefit me or those around me. I don’t need Mike to get myself to the gym, I hire Mike because he helps me to have better workouts when I’m there.

I’ve been training with Mike for two and a half years and it’s made me better in so many ways! I’m a paramedic, so I lift and carry humans regularly and there’s not much room for error – I always have to be ready with enough strength, coordination, balance, and endurance for whatever my job throws at me or people can get really hurt. Mike and I work together to make sure my programming keeps me in the physical shape I need to be in so I never have doubts that I’ll be able to safely take the best care of my patients.
Mike’s also a really cool, decent, caring person! He’s always been supportive and there to help me out when I need it. He’s never checked out during a session, is patient with me when I’m being a brat but somehow never in a bad mood himself, is fun to talk to, and is usually even more pumped than I am when I hit a big personal best on a lift! He really makes it clear all the time how much he loves to see his clients do well, get stronger and more athletic, and be the best they can be at whatever it is they want to do.

Nick has been my personal trainer since January 2019. Nick is not only a wonderful human, but such an intuitive coach with a great depth of knowledge. He is analytical in assessing and understanding the body movements and challenges and provides me with immediate feedback. His explanations are very vivid and insightful. He has a deep understanding of different learning modalities and is capable of educating me and allowing me to understand areas I need to work on.

I had the opportunity of being coached by Taylor and within the months of training with her, I learned so many valuable skills and important techniques in the gym. As well, Taylor really took the time to understand my fitness goals and focused on helping me achieve each one of them. When I told Taylor one of my my goals was to learn how to do pull-ups, she showed me step by step techniques that eventually led to me to being able to do pull ups after only a few weeks. I also found myself really enjoying powerlifting and Taylor made sure to include it in my workouts. She showed me that I am capable of lifting heavy and that I am stronger than I thought I was.
